You might call it fate. Skye Mayring (known by her her nom de nomade Joan Jetsetter) grew up ingrained in the travel industry—with a hotelier for a father and a flight attendant for a mother. This rock star traveler has now visited more than 60 countries in her career and is on a mission to break 100 by the year 2025. From shark-cage diving in South Africa and volcano-boarding in Nicaragua to interviewing native tribes in Papua New Guinea and jamming out to live music in the snow-covered Alps, it's been one hell of a ride.
“Skye combines style with elaborate erudition at almost every turn. She’s a generalist and a specialist at once, drawing on vast travel experience to bring to audiences the irreducible essence of people and places. ”

Over the years, Skye has won numerous awards—including the Silver Lowell Thomas Award for Travel Journalist of the Year—for her coverage of millennial culture, travel technology, adventure, festival travel and the road less traveled.
Skye is the co-founder and executive producer of superswell VR, a virtual reality production company specializing in immersive travel experiences. As the AR/VR market is forecasted to disrupt the mobile market and hit the $150 billion revenue by 2020, this new storytelling medium is truly the next frontier for travel journalists. Skye is an advocate for VR and sees the vast opportunities it can provide for the elderly, disabled and under-privileged in the near future. She has shared her thoughts about the power of VR during speaking engagements at the Samsung Developer Conference and the Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Conference.
Skye got her start in travel as an editor for TravelAge West magazine—a leading travel trade publication that has been a trusted voice of the industry for more than 45 years—and her work has also been published in Travel Weekly, The Washington Times, Bridal Guide, The Hollywood Reporter and Robb Report. For years, she served as the director of social media for Millennials in Travel, a career-development organization for young people in the travel industry, and as an advisory board member of ASTA's Young Professionals Society.
